Samhain to Mamajah

Among the Celts, the new year began in Winter, a fertile period below the surface, which is celebrated around October 31. At Mamajah Farm, we support celebrations of the Seasons that bring the community together in togetherness in connection with the Earth. More info below.

About the event

It is said that it is in the period between October 31 and November 2 that the veil between the visible and invisible worlds is thinnest. Legends tell us that it is at this time that we can best connect with the spirits around us and with our beloved ones who have left to join the Other World. Did you know that our ancestors disguised themselves for a long time in this period precisely to scare away evil spirits? We have so much to discover about our ancient traditions that come together on these dates: Samhain, the Celtic New Year which begins with the entry into Winter, Halloween, All Souls Night, All Saints Day, the Day of the Dead... . these traditions aim to honor the deceased in joy as in sadness, and also to gather in community to celebrate life together.

We will start the festivities from 5 p.m. around the Fire on October 31 (depending on the weather), with different proposals, Canadian buffet and musical jam.

Françoise and the collectiveSingingGardenwe will offer a participatory workshop of polyphonic songs and sacred dances around Mourning from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on part of the place. Other incredible people offer dance on the fall / winter transition, face painting, meditations in honor of the spirits, an altar for the dead, spaces dedicated to the divinatory arts..._cc781905-5cde- 3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_

In the spirit of co-creation, Sarah & Friends who carry the Celtic celebrations at the Mamajah Farm are open to all proposals in the theme to create together a beautiful celebration in community! Do you have anything to offer (perhaps card readings, palmistry readings, runes, astrology, soul readings, venue decorations, costumes, juggling or other)? If so, contact Sarah (sarah@mamajah.org or +33787236197) to let her know.

We would also like to organize a pumpkin workshop the day before to decorate the place with pumpkins and candles, and above all to prepare good meals for our Canadian buffet on October 31. We are looking for volunteers for the kitchen, recipes etc. !

Let's favor soft mobility! La Ferme is accessible by bus 43. There is no parking provided for the occasion, so please carpool as much as possible if possible in order to avoid the accumulation of cars around the place (link for carpoolinghere). Let Sarah know if you have a full car!

This celebration is for all budgets, which is why we ask for a free and conscious contribution to the extent of your possible. A minimum of 20.- for venue and organization is suggested for those who can afford it, and any contribution above or below is welcome. All the workshops and other proposals will also be on donation with sometimes suggested prices (for example 25 .- for the songs & dances proposed by Françoise) so that we have a good balance between accessibility to all budgets and the fair remuneration of the artists and place.

Join our group ofCeltic celebrations on Telegramfor all the last minute info and sharing of photos and videos of the event!

Sarah & Friends and the Mamajah Farm which supports this event look forward to celebrating with you this beautiful transition to Winter :)
